MK Talk Radio – the talk of the town!

The community has a new voice on the radio airwaves, and it’s MK Talk Radio. Every Sunday, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., we will be discussing your ideas, your issues and your opinions on Radio Shalom, 1650 a.m. on the radio dial. Rabbi Saul Emanuel, the executive director of the Vaad Ha’ir will be the host of the show. There were also be different guests who the Vaad will invite on the air to discuss the various topics we will be airing. Everything from kashrus related issues, to issues affecting the Jewish community will be discussed.

On Sunday, December 6, the first show will be heard, from 9:30 to 10:00 in the morning.

Rabbi Emanuel begins the show by introducing the Vaad Ha’ir and the role it plays in the community, after which he will cover the Chanukah lighting ceremony that he took part in on the first night of Chanukah, when a menorah was kindled at City Hall, in the presence of many Rabbis and dignitaries.

The show then moves to a topic which is on the minds and hearts of many Jewish Montrealers, the inflated prices that the kosher consumer is forced to pay, despite the unprecedented rise of the U.S. dollar. Rabbi Emanuel will speak about the various discussions we have had with several importers of kosher food, and how unhappy consumers are with the general state of the kosher food market. Also discussed during our first radio show will be the reasonable accommodations debate which is continuing to get its fair share of publicity, and providing a voice for anti-Semitism and racism in Quebec.

The show is iy”h the first of many such programs through which the community will have an opportunity to discuss topics that are of interest to us. In a short time, the show will move to a live format, giving our listeners an opportunity to phone in and discuss the issues on the table.

We encourage our listeners to call us on the phone, to e-mail us, or to fax us your opinions, and any ideas you may have for future shows.
